The trial of the dynamite conspirators is 6till proceeding at Bow street Police Court, Evidence was given to-day proving that Whitehead, proprietor of the Birmingham factory, had made enormous purchases of acids, to be used in the manufacture of explosives. The jury in the case of Timothy Kelly, one of the Phcenix Park prisoners, have retired until Monday'next to re-consider the evidence, and have not been discharged, as was previously stated, April 27.

In the House of Commons last night, the Affirmation in Lieu of Oaths Bill was again under consideration. During the course of the debate Mr Gladstone made a speech in which l.e strongly supported the Measure. The discussion was, however, adjourned.
The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £11,300,000, the same as last week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities has advanced to 38 per cent. The Baak rate of discount is unchanged, at 3 per cent. The market rate has fallen §> and is 2|-. Consols remain at and New Zealand securities as follows :—5 per cent 10-50 loan 108|; 5 per cent 1889 loan, 106 ; 4£ per cent 1870 1901 loan, 102$. A nitro-glycerine factory has been discovered by the police at Nortkamp - ton.
Mr Parnell, who has returned to England, has cabled to the Irish Convention of Philadelphia, urging the delegates to adopt a prudent programme.
Three Fenians, named 8 Kingston, Gibney, and Hea,ley, have been arrested at Dublin, charged on the information of the informer, with conspiring to murder.
Per Merchant Shipping and Underwriter's Association, London, April 26th : Arrived : Asterion, from Oamaru, left December Ist; Lochnagar, from Oamaru, left January 12th ; Silver Lining, from Timaru, left January 13th; Piako, from Port Chalmers, left January 20th ; Taranaki, from Port Chalmers, left January 23rd ; Lurline, from Lyttelton, left January 20th ; Canterbury, from Port Chalmers, left February 3rd ; Hurunui, from Lyttelton, left February 3rd. The ship British Commerce, which sank in the Channel on Tuesday night, had no passengers ; she had 2100 tons of cargo. The captains of both vessels state that they,did not see each other's lights, The P. and O. Company's s.s..lndus, outward bound to Australia, grounded in Barking Reach, on the Thames, during a fog, but it is expected that she will be floated off shortly. Lord Granville has advised 1 a deputation that waited upon him as to the nature of the scheme for doubling the facilities of traffic through the Suez Canal, thai the Government is at present consulting Lord Dufferin on the subject.

The P. and O. steamship Indus, which grounded at Barking Reach, has been successfully floated, and will resume her voyage to-night. The health of her Majesty the Queen is gradually improving. b April 28.
The race for the One Thousand Guineas Stakes, run at Newmarket to-day.resulted as follows :—Hauteur, 1 ; Malibran, 2 ; Lovely, 3. Michael Fagao, the fourth of tin Phcenix Park prisoners, has been found guilty and sentenced to death. A Royal Red Cross Order for nurses has been instituted.
Hartmann, the Nihilist chief, is reported to have re-entered Russia.
Sir Wilfred Lawson's annual motion in favor of local option has been carried this year by a large majority in tin House of Commons, and the Government has promised to introduce a measure to give effect to the decision.
The Orient Company sloes not declare any dividend this year. The Irish Convention in America lias resolved to adopt Mr Parnell's platform, by which r,ll the Irish societies will be unified, but the extreme parly in the Convention have refused to concur in the decision, and some violent scenes have resulted. The O'Donovan Rossa faction threaten to withdraw and take separate action.
Devine, the Dublin approver, has now divulged the operations of the Vigilance Committee in arranging the attempted murder of Judge Lawson. The murderers of Cox and other four persons have been arrested in consequence of Devine's statement. Dr Crooke, Archbishop of Cashel, has been summoned to Rome and censured by the Pope for supporting Mr Parncll,
