GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The Geraldine School Committee held their usual monthly meeting on Wednesday evening last. Present —Messrs R. S. Cook (Chairman), Andrews, A. Sherratt, W. Shiers, J. Mundell and C. E. Sherratt. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. NEW EDUCATION ACT. Consideration of the circulars re new Education Act, to be introduced into Parliament at its next session by Mr W. J. Stewart, was postponed to next meeting of the Committee. SCHOOL BUILDING. It was proposed by Mr Shiers. seconded by Mr Mundell and carried-'That the attention of the Rev G. Barclay and Dr Foster be directed to the repeated applications made by this Committee to the Board of Education of Hie urgent repairs required to the Master's house and school fence, and that they be requested to urge the Board to see to these important matters. ’ inspector’s report. The report of the Inspector was road as follows: — Extract of Inspector’s Report for year ending December, 1832. Attendance —Number ou roll, 222 ; average attendance, 189 ; present at examination, 184. results. Standard Yl—Presented 2, passed 2 Standard Y—Presented 12, passed 8 Standard IY— Presented 20, passed 15 Standard lll—Presented 27, passed 23 Standard ll—Presented 24, passed 16 Standard I—Presented 29, passed 28 Total presented... 114, passed 92 Percentage of passes ... 80.7 GENERAL REMARKS. The school continues in a highly creditable state of efficiency, the work as a whole is well prepared and reaches a good average standard. Singing is excellently taught, and Elementary Science has been taken with fair results. Sewing has been systemetically taken, and the Infant Department is well conducted. MISCELLANEOUS. Resolved—' That one ton of Kaitangata Coal and one cord black pine firewood be procured for the use of the school.’
