There whs a lajge attendance of buyers at the weekly sole of sheepskins which we held on Thursday, in our New Zealand Wool stores, and good demand. We catalogued and sold 2400 skins,Butchers’ skins, Ergo, 5s up to os 7d ; do, medium, 2s Id, 3s 4d ; do, small, Is 3d, Is Bd, 2s Id ; country skins, large, 2s 8d to 3a Id ; do, second quality, Is Id, 15,9d,2s 6d ; pelts late shorn, 3d, Bd, Is Id. Fat and tallow—There was a good attendance of the trade, and keen competition. Seventy six packages were catalogued, and all sold. Fat— Best quality, clean and well saved, to 2|-d per lb; second quality, to 2|d per lb. Tallow, in small lots, at i|d per lb, and 18s per owt. Hides and calf skins not sold. Wool—All parcels coming forward are being held for tur sale to be held on Thursday next, 19th inst.
CHRISTCHURCH CORN’ EXCHANGE. Report for the week ending Friday evening, the 13th inst : The markets are absolutely without change, cable reports from England indicate a weaker feeling ; nothwithstanding this, however, last week’s prices are still obtainable.
Wheat—Tuscan in shipping lines, 4s 5d to 4s 6d per bushel f.o.b. ; other wheats, 4s 3d to 4s 4d ; second quality, 3s lOd to 4s; chick wheat, 2s lod to 3s Oats—Supply and demand appear tolerably well balanced ; raillingsamples, 2s Id to 2s 2d per bushel ; feed, 2s to 2s Id delivered in Christchurch.
Barley—The demand for this cereal is not so good ; malting samples of fair average quality, 4s 4d to 4s 7d per bushel. Grass. Seed—Well dressed farmers samples, 3s to 3s 6d per bushel ; medium dressed, 3s 8d to 3s 9d, delivered in Christchurch ; cocksfoot, to B|d per lb f.o.b.
Beans and . Peas—The former are worth 3s 5d to 3s 6dT.0.b., the latter 3s 6d to 3s 9d per bushel, according to sorts and quality. Cheese and Butter— 5d to s£d for the former, 9d to for the latter.
AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, April 11. The Melbourne manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports of the local grain market as follows: Shipping wheat, 4s 4d to 4s sd, the market is firmer ; malting barley is steady at 5s 3d to 5s 7d ; New Zealand oats are depressed, feeding sorts being quoted at 2s lOd to 3s Id and milling ditto 3s 2d to 3s 3d. New Zealand oats under bond are worth 2s Bcl to 2s 7d. The market is dull and drooping.
, ENGLISH MARKETS . ; London, April 11. Consols are quoted at 102|. New Zealand securies are without change. Adelaide wheat, ex store, mriains at 50s. New Zealand wheat has declined Is and is now quoted at 4ls to 48s. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, is worth 345, |
Australian tallow is firm at 14s for best beef and 46s for best mutton The frozen mutton ex Dunedin has not yet been cleared. The trade is unsatisfactory in consequence of large supplies and ,t}ie demand being,feeble.
