In the House of Commons to-day Sir William Vernon Harcourt, Home Secretary, stated in. reply to a question that enquiries had been made by the police regarding the attack upon Lady Florence Dixie by two men disguised ns women, but that the investigation had failed to confirm Lady Dixie's narrative.

A Fenian who arrived at Liverpool from Cork, was detected in the act of landing a box of explosives, and was arrested by the police.

Two persons have been arrested at Cork in connection with the landing of the case of explosives at Liverpool by a Fenian agent, The enthronisation of Dr Benson ns Primate of All England took place at the Canterbury Cathedral to-day. It has transpired that the police have succeeded today in surprising a Nihilist rendezvous where laige numbers of the members of the secret society assembled, A severe struggle took place, but ultimately eight persons were arrested ; one of them, however, committed suicide whilst in the hands of toe police.
