AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.
Messrs Maclean and Stewart, of Timaru, report for the past week ending Saturday as follows : Horses —Their entry to-day was a small one, owing principally to the morning being wet, and for this reason several farmers’ lots which were advertised did not come forward. There was a good demand for the better class of draughts, and several intending purchasers did not get their wants supplied, They disposed of every head yarded at from medium to good draughts, £2O to to £33 ; hacks and light, harness horses, medium to good, from £l3 to £lB ; light and inferior, £4 to £lO, Cattle—At Washdyke on Monday last the entry was under the average, there being only a few bead of fat cattle and about 100 head of stores, composed for the most part of yearlings and cows, entered, for neither of which there is any demand. They sold fat heifer® and cows at from £5 17s 6d to £6 ss, equal to 2Cs per lOOlbs ; a pen of two and a half year old steers realised £4 17s Cd, and store cows from £2 to £3 15s.
Sheep—The demand for store sheep of all descriptions continues brisk, and farmers who are not already supplied will experience considerable difficulty in finding good stores for their stubble feed. At Washdyke on Monday there was a fair entry, chiefly small lots, most of which were disposed of. They sold 400 cross-bred ewes at 9s fid ; 228 cross-breds, 8s 9d ; 200 fat do, 12s ; 196 cross-bred ewes, 9s. On Wednesday they held their fortnightly sale of skins, and catalogued about 1000 and sold them at up to Is 8d for cross-breds, merinos up to Is 4d, inferior fid to lb.
Country Sales—On Thursday they held a clearing sale on account of Mr William Gillespie at his farm, Washdyke. There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was very keen throughout the day, and with the exception of the goodwill ot the lease.

Draught mares and geldings fetched from £36 to £42 j draught colts and fillies, £is to £lB ; two-year-old steers and heifers, £3 17s 6d to £4 5s ; milch cows, £4 to £6 10s ; merino ewes, 4s 9d ; cross-bred lambs, 7s Id ; implements and harness at' good prices, ENGLISH MARKETS. London, March 9. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, remains at 51s, and New Zealand at 46s (lowest price). Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, is worth 34s 6d. March 17. At the wool sale 258,000 bales have been catalogued, and 21,000 bales with drawn. Medium, greasy, and combing merino, is |d to Jd below December prices- Other descriptions maintain their former values.
