On Saturday morning last, about 1 o'clock, rain commenced to fall, and continued up to about 10 o'clock on • c i .',i;-J jy night. Sunday remained iine, until 11 o'clock in the evening, when rain again commenced and continued all night. Yesterday the sky was dark and threatening, light rain occasionally falling. Although the farmers did their very best during the previous week to get their grain secured, stacking being carried on with all possible speed, much of it is still exposed, and there can be no doubt that many will suffer serious loss. From Auckland, Thames, Greymouth, Christchurch, and Duuedin comes the intelligence that they have been experieucing very wet weather. A Thames telegram states that heavy floods have occurred in the Ohinemnri river, Two bridges on the Tauranga road and the Owaharoa bridge have been destroyed, The Paeora steamer wharf and sheds have been washed away. The Te Aroha coach got stuck in the Komato creek, and the passengers had a narrow escape. Cattle are swimming in paddocks between Pareroa and Puke. The storm has also been heavy in the Waitkauri Valley. It will take several thousands of pounds to repair damige. Rain is still falling.

In the Waimate district the weather has been much the saaie as here. Harvest work commenced early, but from the prevalence of wet weather there is a great deal of grain to cut, and more than half is in stook throughout the county,
