EATEN ALIVE BY PIGS.

It is impossible to imagine a more horrible occurence than that which resulted (says the Daily Chronicle) in the death of William Barker, a man GO years of age, who resided at huncorn. He was employed by a tanner, and seems to have ascended to a loft without having taken any care as to his personal eafety. At all events, he was perched iu such a dangerous position that when the wind suddenly closed a door near him, that was sufficient to make him lose his balance and pitch him headlong into a pigstye beneath. He must have been stunned by the concussion for he did not at once rise, and five pigs that wore there, with strange ferocity, rushed upon the prostrate and helpless man and began to devour him. They were engaged in their revolting attack when the m >aus of poor Bicker attracted the attention of his own son. With great difficulty were the brutes beaten back and the shockingly-mut-lated nan rescued. Such savage attacks have oacurred before, but they have been confined to a single sow, end have hitherto been supposed to indicate exceptional feroc'ty. In this instance, however, five of chase animals, moved by a common impulse, began to tear and devour their victim.
