ENGLISH MARKETS
Messrs Miles Bros, and Co. report under date London, November 17th, 1882, as follows :
Wool.—Our wool market has been very quiet during the past fortnight, and no further private sales have been effected. In our manufacturing districts business is reported to be still good, and stocks have considerably diminished. Merinos were scarcely so firm as at our September series, but at the subsequent sales of River Plate wool the prices realised were about on a par with those realised at Antwerp in July. With the 37,0u0 bales of old stock, the quantity for disposal at our sales, t« open on the 21st iust., will probably amount to 145,000 bales, against 182,908 offered in November and December last year, which will include some 30,090 bales of the new clip, over 90,000 bales being already here. Wheat, Flour, etc.—Greater activity prevails in our wheat markets, but prices arc nevertheless without alteration.
