DISTRICT PRIZE FIRING.
The annual firing for the Government district prizes took place yesterday on the Temnka Rillc Range. The Company was under the command of Captain Young, and the tiring was carried on under the superintendence of Captain Dundas. At the Parade Captain Young read a letter from Mrs Packe thanking the volunteers for assisting at her late husband’s funeral, and lie expressed regret at having delayed the reading of the letter so long. The weather was not altogether favorable for firing for the prizes. There was a strong gusty wind from the northeast, which militated somewhat against the shooting at 500 and 600 yards. Taking tins into consideratioa the firing was fairly good. The result was as follows ;
