Pigs were a most unprofitable impoundage. lie wished to ask the Board’s advice whether he could come on the owner for the balance if the beasts did not pay expenses. Mr Ensor thought Mr Gentleman could bring a civil action for damages, but Mr McShceby Gentleman stated that they already repaired the fences when they broke them, but he would, of course, rather have the fences left alone. The Chairman pointed out that they let the pound to Mr Lawson, and he must work it. The Board advised him to bring a test case. Air McS. Gentleman then presented a petition from a number of residents asking for a piece of road on the Wai tohi road to bo shingled : about 80 chains. The Board decided to consider the work later on, and ultimately decided that tenders should he called for the work. A large number of residents in the town did not employ him, and he thought that they should be compelled to do so. These residents emptied the soil into their garden?. The Board postponed consideration of the matter till they met as a Board of Health. Air Bissett waited on the Board and applied for timber to make a bridge across drain, on Penny’s to his section.
