TIMATttJ MARKETS. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the week ending Saturday last as follows :

Horses.—An average entry of 53 head came forward to their yards for sale to-day. A fair proportion of these were good draughts, for which there was a slightly improved demand, resulting in a good number changing hands at better prices than last week. They sold privately during the week to a Southern buyer, 8 first class draughts, and to-day at auction they disposed of 26 head nt for medium to good draughts. L 27 to L 36 ; ordinary, LIS to L 25 ; hacks, medium to good, Ll2 to LlB ; inferior to ordinary, LG to LlO. Buggies, spring carts and harness also sold at satisfactory pricps. Cattle.—They have enquires for 2 and 3-year-old steers and heifers, and, as feed is now abundant all over Soulh Canterbury and only a comparatively limited number of this class of stock in the district, buyers may for some time to come expect to pay considerably higher prices for all classes of stores than they have done lately. They have no transactions to report either in fat or store. Sheep—They sold privately during the satisfactory price, and at Arowhenua on Friday 200 merino ewes and lambs at 10s Id. Country sales. —At Arowhenua yesterday they sold, on account of the executors of the late Mr John Crammond, 20 head of horses at above quotations, Cows in milk and calving, L 5 to L 7 10s. Implements and harness at fair values. Properties. —They offered and sold to-day, in the estate of Wm. Halstead, •a life interest in 50 acres of land situated

at Pleasant Point, the sum realised being L 230. They also offered a property in Wai-iti township, but the reserve not being obtained, it was passed in.
