TIMARU MARKETS. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for tlit) week ending Saturday last as follows : Horses.—47 head of all classes were entered to-day, aud amongst these were some really good draught and light harness horses, but although owners were anxious to sell and would have been satistied with (in many cases) very moderate values, business during the day was exceedingly slow, and only a few lots changed hands. They quote for this clay : Medium to good draughts, £27 to £35 ; ordinary, £l4 to £22 ; hacks and light harness horses —medium to good, £l2 to £lB ; inferior and ordinary, £5 to £lO. Cattle.— At Washdyke on Monday their entry consisted of 340 head store cattle, all ages. One-half of these were disposed of at prices slightly in advance of former rates, and as feed is now abundant, prices are likely to be firmer for some time to come. They quote :—3-year-old steers, £5 10s ; 2-year-olds, £3 to £3lss • yearlings, £2 to £2 10s ; calves, 17s to 30s ; milkers, £5 to £7 10s ; dry cows, 30s to £3 10s ; fac steers, £8 to £8 7s 6d, equal to 25s per lOOlbs. Sheep.—At Washdyke on Monday they sold on account of various owners 100 merino wethers, fat, at 8s ; 57 cross-bred lambs at 8s ; 560 cross-bred ewes (unshorn) and lambs at 14s lOd ; 48 crossbred ewes (unshorn) and lambs 13s ; 75 merino ewes (unshorn) and lambs at 9s 2d ; and privately, 500 cro3s-bred ewes and lambs at a satisfactory price. Grain.—The\ sold privately during the week 900 bushels wheat for fowls' feed, for shipment. CHBISTCHUKCH MARKETS. Messrs 11. "Wilkin arid Co. report on the live stock market for the week ended Thursday, November 23rd, ISS2, as follows :—At Addingtou on Wednesday ?G4O sheep and hunbs, 259 cattle, and 47 pigs were brought forward for the week's supply. We said on account of various clients, fat merino wethers, in wool, from lis 3d to 12s, and cross-breds up to 14s Gd ; lambs, 9s; cattle, £7 5s for a line of heifers; store cattle, from £2 10s to £4 2s Gd, according to age and
quality. We held on Thursday our weekly sale of sheepskins. There was a fair attendance of buyers. As the competition was somewhat depressed the sale was dull ; 2295 skins were catalogued. Butchers' cross-bred, large, 5s 7d, Cs Gd, Gs lOd ; do do, second qualitj', 3s 9d, 4s Bd, 5s 7d ; do merino, ss, 5s yd, Gs 3d ; lambskins, large, is 7d to 2s ; do, second quality, Is to Is 7d ; pelts, green, 3d 9d, Is Id each : pelts, limed, 5s per dozen ; country cross-bred, lart;e, 5s lOd, Gs sd, 7s ; do do, medium, 2s, 3s Id, 4s, ss, 5s lOd ; do do, small, Is 3d to 2s ; do merino, large, 4s lid ; 5s SJ, Gs ; do do, medium, 2s, 2s lOd, 3s lid, 4s lid ; do d», small, Is, is Gd, 2s. Fat and Tailow —The trade was well represented, aud there was good competition ; 111 packages were catalogued, and all sold at prices a shade in advance of last week's rates. Fat—Best quality, clean and well saved, to 2id per lb ; second quality, to 2Jd per lb., Tallow, in small lots, at lGs per cwt, and to 2|-d per lb. Hides, sound, dry salted, 4d per lb ; wet salted, 3|d per lb ; greeo, 3W per ib ; damaged 2£d per lb. Calfskins, sound, 4d per lb; cut and damaged, 2d per lb.
