CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co report : On Thursday we held a sale of sheep skins in our New Zealand Wool Stores, at which there was an average attendance of buyers, and good demand for all descriptions. We catalogued and sold 3137 skins. Butchers’ cross-bred, large, Gs 4d, 6s 7d, 6s lOd ; do do, second quality, 5s sd, 5s lOd, 6s 4d ; do merino, large, 5s lOd, 6s Id, 6s 3d ; do do, second quality 5s 2d, 5s 6d, 5s lOd ; do lamb skins, huge, Is 2d, to Is 7d ; do do, second quality, 6d, Bd, Is 2d ; do pelts, 7d, lid, Is 3d, up to Is fid, according to quality ; country cross-bred large, 5s 7d, 6s 2d, 6s 7d ; do do small, Is 4d, Is lOd, 2s 4d ; do merino, large, 5s 7d, 6s, 6s 6d, 7s ; do do, medium 2s 6d, 3s 6d, 4s 7d, 5s 7d ; do do, small, Is 6d, 2s Id, 2s Gd. Fat and tallow —There was a good attendance of buyers, but the competition was Jot so spirited as at previous sales, and we note a decline in prices of about per lb ; 144 packages were catalogued and al 1 sold. Fat, best quality, clean and wol' saved, to 2fd to 2§d per lb; second quality, to 2g-d per lb. Tallow, in small lots and according to quality, at 17s, 225, 26s per cwt, and from 2fd to 2fd per lb. Hides, sound dry, at 4d per lb ; ordinary salted, at 3|d per lb ; green, at 3id per lb ; damaged at per lb. Calf skins, sound, at 4d per lb ; cut and damaged, at 2d per lb. At the Addington Yards on Wednesday 6596 sheep, 470 heard of cattle and 45 pigs were yarded. Sheep—We sold on account of various clients prime crossbreds (shorn), at 12» 6d ; woolly merinos, at 12s; cross-bred ewes, with lambs, at 10s; lambs, prime, at Ss ; medium, 7s fid ; other sorts at 5s 9d. Cattle, prime quality, at £8 2s 6d ; stores, at £5. DUNEDIN MARKETS. At the stock sales on Nov 21 there was a fair supply of fat cattle, but the demand was not good and prices somewhat suffered. Beef is quoted at 22s 6d to 255. Fat sheep were in full supply and in excess of trade requirements, consequently prices declined from 3s to 4s pei head from last week. Best cross-breds, in the wool, brought up to 19s each. Grain Market—Wheat : The market is unaltered, sales continuing difficult to make, Quotations are theiefore nominal, say, prime milling, 4s 6d to 4s 8d; medium and inferior, 4s to 4s 3d ; fowl feed, 2s 6d to 3s 9d per bushel. Oats are not quite so firm notwithstanding that stocks are low and arrivals few. Milling may be quoted at 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; medium and good bright feed, 3s Id to 3s 2£d ; inferior and discolored, 2s 6d to 3s per bushel, in barley there were no transactions to record. MELBOURNE MARKETS. The National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand reporc under date Nov. 21 that malting barley is nominal at 4s to 4s 6d, and the market is sluggish. Shipping wheat is quiet but steady at 5s scl to 5s 6d. New Zealand teed oats are dull, and easier at 4s Id to 4s 3d.
