TIMARU AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION’S SHOW.

President: J, C. McKerrow, Esq. VicePresident : Henry Ford, Esq. Treasurer ; Robert Stewart, Esq, Committee of Management : F. Archer ; John Kelland ; E. Acton ; D. Maclean ; W. Balfour ; D. McLaren ; R, A. Barker ; C. N. Orbell j C. Bourn ; A. C. Pringle ; John Campbell; R. R. Pitt; R. Davie; R H Rhodes, jun.; Edwd. Elworthy; M. Studholme; Wm. Evans ; W. Stevenson; Andw, Grant ; Thos. Tesohemaker; W. J. Hardic; A. VV. Wright; Thomas Hamlyn; and A. Wylie. P. W. Stubbs, Secretary.

The annual show in connection with the above Association took place last Tuesday and Wednesday. On the first day the attendance was very small, and the exhibits consisted only of sheep, and implements. The day was extremely windy and cold with occasional showers of rain. The weather on the second day was all that could be desired, and the attendance from all parts of South Canterbury was very large, but not near so large as last year. There was also a very great falling off in the number of exhibits, being 140 less than last year. The falling off in the number of sheep was very remarkable, but there was a decided improvement in the quality of the exhibits some of the finest sheep that have been ever seen in a Timaru show having been exhibited. The horses pretty well maintained their place, being only about one or two less than last year, and were equal if not superior in quality, especially in the hunter class, in which there was a very marked improvement. There was a falling off both in number and quality of the cattle department. The classes which showed the greatest amount in improvement were the Dairy Produce and Agricultural Produce, there being about 27 exhibits in both classes more than last year. On the whole the show cannot be said to have been so successful as on previous years. The following is the prize list : SHEEP. The Asociation offer a prize, value £lO 10s, to the exhibitor gaining the highest number of points in the Classes Merino, Leciester and Lincoln Sheep, In place of Special Prizes, Certificates of Merits will be awarded to exhibitors gaining the highest number of points in the Classes of Merino, Leicester, Lincoln and Romney Marsh Sheep.
