The CHBisTcntntH Cathedrae. —At the sitting of the Diocesan Synod the other day an interesting report on the Cathedral services maintenance was brought.,up. The report showed that after making every reduction for the future it is possible, without interfering with the efficiency of the present services, there is an annual deficiency to meet of £919. The Committee proposed a scheme to make up this deficiency, of which the following are the main points:—The others of secretary and treasurer be added to one of the canonries ; that as the canonries become vacant they be held in abeyance until the Synod duchies they be filled up.; that the number of choristers on tile foundation be reduced ; that the amount already accumulate; 1 . rs a sinking fund for repayment of general debts on the Dean arid Chapter estate be used for the purpose of paying off outstanding liabilities, and that theobalance, together with the sum of £339 per annum, now appropriated to the payment of interest and sinking fund, be applied, to ..the maintenance of worship in the Cathedral, and a special appeal bo made to the public gene^
