CAPTURE OF AN OUTLAW.
The Argus reports that some excitement was caused in Albany recently owing to an inquest that was held on the body of a notorious outlaw and horsc-stealer, James Cody, who died from a wound inflicted by Lance-cor-poral Truslove, of Esperance Bay, in arresting hi in. Cody began his depredations some 18 months since, and was once arrested at Champion Bay for stealing a trooper's horse at Albany, but managed to escape during the night,
the police received information that lie was making his way over-land to South Australia, and Trooper Truslove was intstructed to stop him. The trooper rode out to meet the outlaw, and attempted to capture him, but Cody refused to suj render, and after an exciting chaso.of nearly eight miles, finding that the man .would escape, the trooper drew his cnrbiDe, and, after calling to him t* surrender, fired, at the horse. The ball, howerer, took effect in the bushranger's groin, and he afterwards died of the wound. The body was brought by sea to Albany, and after a patient hearing, a verdict was returned of justifiable homieide.
