The following correspondence was read and considered : From Mr Thomas Frcrne, requesting permission to strain wore along the fence on the embankment of the cutting leading on te the Alhuidalc Downs. The request was granted. From Mr W. Merchant containing his report upon the proposed bridge over the Opnha liver, near Robb’s lint. Resolved—“ That the Clerk acknow. ledge the receipt of the same with thanks, and ask Mr Marchant to submit a pla.i for the Board’s approval, and if he would be prepared to undertake the carrying out of the construction, and upon what terms.” From Mr John Talbot representing the utility of a stock bridge over the Opuha river on the Geraldine and Burke’s Pass road. The Clerk was directed to inform Mr Talbot of the action taken by the Board in reference to,the matter. INTERVIEW?. Mr R. Thew had an interview with the Board asking to be allowed to take water down the drain alongside the Orari Gorge Real for the purpose of irrigating his land.
Resolved grauled, upon condiiion that all the work be done to the satisfaction of the Board and at Mr Thew’s expense, that he be liable for any damage done to the road or adjoining propeity, and shall turn the water back into its natural channel at any time the Board may direit.” At the request of the Board Mr Wheelband gave in an estimate of the damage done to the plantation at the Board office by fire, estimating the replacing of the trees destroyed at £ls. Resolved—“ That as the fire was caused by Mr T. Blair’s negligence he be called upon to pay the cost of replacing the trees.” Mr Uennistoun applied for a few drain pipes to form an entrance into his properly. The request was granted. INSTUUCTIOXS TO OVERSEER. The Overseer was instructed to attend in the following things To have all the gorse grubbed out of the [ Imitations at •Sowetlq ’« cornu." and Tripp’s cutting To grub tin all gorse growing in any of (he river or creek beds in the district. To go over die biidic track over the Blue Mount..in and lay off a diversion to ease the gradient. To repair the ford on tho Orari liver, and repair llie fence on the - side of Tripp’s culling. To have all blanks in any of the plantations lifle 1 up with gum trees. To have a leading fencfl I in up at both endsuf thiClayton bridge, and to apply for copies of the Roal Board Act, The Rating Act, The L ind Act., Tlio Ti m-.ru I [arbor Act, and The Counties Amendment Act.
