THE BUTTER AND CHEESE FACTORY.
A meeting of the Directors of the Butter, Cheese and Bacon-Curing Factory was held Inst night in the Wal lingford Hotel. The Sub-Committee reported that the Winchester site was unsuitable owinjg to being too small and in the centre of the town ; the sites at Andrewville were pot suitable owing to being very unapproachable, and no chance of working a piggery on it ; the price put on Mr Irvine’s land was three times its value, it was inaccessible and not centrally enough situated. The school: buildings were very reasonable, but owing to their situation they were unruitable. A long discussion then took place as tj the selectien of a site, and ultimately it was resolved to purchase from Mr Andrew Grant 20 acres of land at £27 per acre, known as Tavender’s paddock. On the motion of Mr Gray all the shares applied for were allotted, and notice was ordered to be given to all shareholders to pay up the second instalment on their shares. After some discussion as to the kind of building which would be required the meeting adj ourned. -
