It is desired to set set forth in a concise form information respecting the business which this Office undertakes : 1. The charge ot all kinds of money trusts, such as Carriage Settlement, money to be invested for the benefit of Minors, moneys bequeathed for charitable objects, mone3's the title to winch is in dispute, or whose legal owner is unknown or cannot be found, etc., etc. 2. The administration of the wills of persons who by appointing the Public Trustee us their execntor secure the guarantee of the State for the due fulfilment of their w'sfces, and avoid the risk consequent on t'-e appointment of private though earnestly desirous of .=,dng for the benefit of parties interested, rail to carry out legally the objects for which ti:ey were appointed, and couseinvolve themselves and those whose interests they are striving to protect in costly and harasssing litigation. 3. The administration of all estates of which no disposition has been made by will, whenever relatives do not wish to incur the responsibility of administration, or cannot from any cause obtain the necessary powers to act. In such cases it is the duty of the Public Trustee to discharge all debts so far as the assets extend, and divide the residue amongst henext of kin. The administration of the estates of jjatics, lunatic patients, and convicts. 5 The charge of all lands lying waste a,nd unoccupied of which the owner is unknown, or who lias been absent from the colony for ten years, having left no known agent.
