The Maori deputation, bearing a petition addressed to the Queen, were today granted an interview by Earl Kimberley, and were introduced to His Lordship by the Right Rev. A, B. Souter, the Bishop of Nelson. Sydney Taiwhanga and Hare Mangihaka explained at length the grievances of the natives of New Zealand and presented the petition. The Secretary of State for the Colonies stated in reply, that he could only transmit their memorial to the Government of New Zealand, and request the opinion of the Colonial Executive as to the allegations made by the petitioners. +- - AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Sydney, July 17. Mcßride, accountant ©f the Australian Joint Stock Bank at Grafton, and two accomplices, have been arrested in connection with the alleged sticking up of the Bank by a bushranger on ? tha 14th inst. The sum of £2754, which the bushrangers were said to have stolen, was only hidden, and has since been found. The arrest of Mcßride has been made in consequence of information furnished by one of his accomplices, who turned informer.
