Tho inquest on the body of Sarah Adams, who was found in a creek near Papakaio on July 2, was commenced at Peebles yesterday afternoon, Evidence was given of Beattie having, about the time of the woman’s disappearance, left a bloodstained razor with a local hotelkeeper, saying his wife had been cutting fowls’ neck with it, and asking the hotelkeeper to clean it. He had been at tho hotel about the time of the woman’s disappearance, and stayed all night. The hotelkeeper said he had heard Beattie had gone out of the hotel during the night, but he could not say positively that he had.
