ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. Londok, July 2. The Government has applied to ths Supreme Court for an injunction to restrain the promoters of the Channel Tunnel scheme from proceeding farther with the work of construction. The total quantity: of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,030,000 quarters. ' ’ July 3. It has transpired that since the recent visit of the Prince of ’Wales to Bradford, dynamite was found to be concealed under some of the bridges over which the Royal train, passed, It is believed that the discovery reveals the existence of a plot to take the Prince’s life. The sculling match between Laycock and Boyd for £2OO aside, was rowed on the Tees today, and was won by Laycock by five lengths. Consols have further advanced to 99|. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, is quoted at 355. Australian tallow is unchanged at 42s 6d for best beef, and ,42s 6d for best mutton. July 4. Half of the cargo of frozen meat ex steamer Cuzco has been sold. The carcases are not in first-class l order# examination having proved that ten per cent of them are affected by mildew. In the House of Commons yesterday the disorderly and obstructive esnduct of Mr O’Donnell, M.P. for Dungarvon, when the House was in Committee on last, was brought up for discussion. Mr O’Donnell, who, with other Irish members, was suspended on that occasion for obstruction, also made use of insulting language in alluding to the Chair. The motion was therefore put and carried in the House yesterday that be should be suspended for a fortnight, In consequence of the continued obstruction to the Irish Repression Bill the system of voting “ urgency ” has been revived and adopted, with a view to expedite the passage cf the Measure through the House. AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Melbournc, July 3. Entries for the Grand International Champion Ploughing contest, which takes place on 26th and 27th instants, under the auspices of the National Agricultural Society of Victoria, were published today. For the Singlefurrow Match (first prize £105), there are 52 entries, and for the Doublefurrow Match (£100), 30 entries. All the Australian colonies will be represented at the contest, including New Zealand, from whence two entries have been received. • July 4. Henry Bryant, alias De Beaumont, the Age informant regarding alleged Russian designs on the colonies, has been sentenced at the Kilmore Police Court to five years’ imprisonment for forgery, _ ;
