The sculling race; for the " Sportsman's " Cup took place today on the Thames, The competitors were Larg an Pearce and Laycock. The race resulted in the victory of Largan, who beat Pearce by two lengths. At the wool auction today less demand was experienced, and prices were occasionally easier. The catalogues comprised 12,000 bales of low to inferior qualities generally j all in favor of buyers. June 21. In the House of Commons last night, Sir Charles Dilke, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, stated, in reply to a question-, that the Government would require full reparation Irom the Khedive for the outrages committed upon British subjects during the recent riots in Alexandria. The Hon W, E. Gladstone aaGGUuced, with reference to his motion for reform of Parliamentary procedure, that it would be impossible, owing to press of business, to carry out the proposals of the Government during the present session, but that the subject would be again introduced next year. It is expected that an autumn session of Porliament will be held. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, remains at 51s, and Netf Zealand ditto at 50s- Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, is quoted at 455.

A telegram is to hand from Zululand reporting that war has broken out between the native tribes in that country, comprising two bodies, tinder Dahake, the brother of Getewayo, and chief Oham. Melbourne, June 21. The motion of Mr Francis, objecting to the proposed remission of taxation, which was withdrawn last night, will be brought on in the Assembly today, when the House goes into committee of ways and means. Sir Bryan O'Loghlea has decided not to treat the motion at ono expressing a want of confidence in the Government,' and a compromise has thus been effected. Malting barley is quiet, and prices are unchanged at 5s 3d to 5s sd. The market for New Zealand ©ata is dull; feeding sorts remain at 4s Id to 4s 3d ; milling oats have advanced Id, and are now quoted at 4s 3d to 4s sd. i Sydney,June 21. Newcastle coal miners have unanimously rejected the proposals of Mr Gregson for the termination of the strike. In the action brought by Messrs Geodlet and Smith against the Government, claiming £168,000 for land in Darling Harbor for railway purposes, a verdict has been returned for plaintiffs for £87,716 as compensation.
