THE GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE CLUB.

The seventh annual event under the auspices of the above club came off in Christchurch on the Queen’s Birthday. The weather was fine, tha attendance large, and the various events were well contested. The Grand National Handicap of £3OO was won by Mr Christie’s Katerfelto, with Mr Pilbrow’s Clarence seconded Mr St. James’ Quamby third. The Maiden Plate of £l5O was won by Mr Lunn’s Canard,with Mr Reeve’s Overdraft second, and Mr Foster’s Rocket third. The Hunt Club Cup of £l5O was

won by Mr Pilbrow’s Clarence, with Quamby second, and Young Sledmere third. The Consolation of £SO was won by Mr Adam’s Kosciusko, Gang Awa being second, and Why Not third.
