The election which lias taken place for a member for the Northern Division of West Riding, Yorkshire, ia the room of the late Lord F. Cavendish, has resulted in the return of Mr Holder, a Liberal, by a majority of 2000 over the Hon Charles Garthorne Hardy, second son of Viscount Conservative. ?

In the House of Commons last night the Irish Repression Bill was read a second time by a. majority of 45. It has transpired that the foreign Consuls, acting under instructions from their Governments, will demand of the Khedive that the Egyptain army shonld forthwith be disbanded and that all rebellious officers should be banished. It is stated that in view of the present position of affairs the Turkish Government will probably despatch a fleet of ironclads to Alexandria.
