RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT TEMUKA.

(Before S. D. Barker (Chairman), and J. Mendelson Esqrs. J.P,’s.) PIG SHOOTING.
K, Franks was charged by J, Connell, of Waitobi, with having on the Ist day of April last shot one pig belonging to him, Mr Johnston appeared for the defendant. The evidence went to show that defendant on the day mentioned was returning home from a shooting expedition, and that when passing by complainant’s place he shot the pig. Connell afterwards saw Franks, who agreed to pay £1 for the damage he had done to the pig. He left £1 for this purpose at Mr Storey’s stable, but the plaintiff understood the money was to be left at the Post-office, and when he did not get it he issued the summons . The defendant was fined £1 and costs, and was ordered to pay £1 10s damages. TRESPASS OF HORSES. E. Forward was charged with allowing two horses belonging to him to wander at large, and was fined ss. A. Frew for an offence of the same nature was mulcted in a similar sum. BREACH OF THE LICENSING ACT. Leonard Tombs, of the Arowhenua Hotel, charged with a breach of the Licensing. Act, was remanded for seven days. The offence consisted in Mr Tombs keeping open one evening that he bad a ball in his house. CIVIL GASES. A. Russell v. S. Spillane—Claim, £3 12s.
