An extensive strike of colliers has occurred at Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales. The lock-out miners today besieged the offices of officials of the various mines in great numbers, and the latter only effected their escape from the attacks of the mob with difficulty. A disastrous explosion lias occurred in Tudoe Colliery, near Durham. A large number of miners were at work at the time of the explosion, and, so far as is at present known, 35 have met their death.

The police have effected the capture in Cork of ten persons on a charge of treason. The arrests were made on the strength of evidence given to the authorities by an informer, who was previously an accomplice of the prisoners.

The case of Roderick Maclean, the would-be assassin of - the Queen, was today again brought up before the Special Commission, sitting at Reading. After a full enquiry, the prisoner was found not guilty of the charge of treason, on the ground that he was in an insane condition when he committed the act, Maclean will, consequently, be detained during Her Majesty’s pleasure.

It is announced that Mr Parnell will return from France on Monday next, the 24th instant, when he will surrender to his parole. • A Bill, providing that what may be defined as necessary expenses of election to Parliament should be charged to the rates of the borough, country, or district in which the election takes place, was read a second time in the House of Commons today. The measure has been introduced by private members but received the suppprt of the Government.

The death is announced today of Sir Heniy Cole, the well-known author and administrator, and formerly a director of the South Kensington Museum, aged 74.
