THE STATE OF IRELAND.
London, April 6. In the House of Commons last Wednesday night the Right Hon W. i 5. Gladstone made a lengthy and vigorous speech upon the position of affairs in Ireland. In the course of his remarks he stated that the present situation could not be matched in the history ot Ireland for ths last fifty years, and that, in fact, a social revolution existed in that country at the present time. The Premier further stated that the crimes which had been committed were dis- , tinctly traceable to the influence of the Land League, and he charged Mr Healy, Member for Wexford, with adding to the disorder by his imflammatory language. Government, Mr Gladstone added, fully appreciated the danger of the situation, but they would choose their own time for making fresh proposals to the House. .New York, April 4.
