A meeting of the Directors of the Wellington Frozen Meat Company was held yesterday, when it was decided to procure a Haslatu ipachme, similar to those ordered by the Christchurch and Dunedin Companies. It is expected the machinery will .arrive during the spring, and that the Company will be able to commence operations during the season. At the Police Court this Edward Arnold, formerly third cook of the s.s. Hawea, was sentenced to six months’ hard labor for stealing four aprons and sonie forks from the Union Steam Shipping Company. A man named Charles W. Bell, a stationer in Coprtney place and Secretary to the Britannia Lodge of Oddfellows, burst a blood-vessel in the Street this morning, and bled to death in a few minutes The deceased was Consumptive, and leaves a wife and two children. Christchuckch, March 26. Mr Federli has returned from a visit to Akaroa and the Peninsula, where he has persuaded a number of persons to undertake the silk industry on a large scale. He has successfully hatched many silkworms, and raised cocoons superior to any he has seen before, and will exhibit a bay of interesting specimens of sericulture at the International Exhibition.
