TO THE EDITOR. Sir.—l see by the report of the Inspector of Nuisances to the Board of Health that he states he sent me a letter asking me to accompany him to inspect the sanitary state of Temuka. Ido not at all wish to accompany the Inspector (Mr Boltoa) to inspect the town, inasmuch as lam not paid for assisting iiim in his arduous duties. With reference to his so-called letter which I call a post card, 1 enclose you a copy : " John Hayhurst Esq., "Sir.- If convenient to you, on Tuesday next at 11 a.m., the honor of your company would oblige as I intend to inspect the sanitary state of Temuka.—l am Sir, yours respectfully, " George Bolton, " Inspector of Nuisances." You will observe that Mr Bolton neither dated his post card, nor named a place of meeting, nor the date on which I was to meet dim in case I felt inclined to accompany him. If he wanted me to accompany him he knew wbere I lived, he need not have gone to the expense of a post card.—Yours truly, John Ha.yhtjrst.
