THE JEWISH RELIEF FUND.

The following circular addressed to Southern Russian Jewish relief committees in the colonies was received per mail from the office of the Anglo-Jewish Association, London ‘ Gentlemen,— The Council of the Anglo-Jewish Association, having- taken a constant and active interest in the imperilled conditi'-u of

; numberless Jewish families in Russia, i have witnessed with extreme gratification I the sympathy so powerfully and efficiently I displayed by yonr fellow-citizens of all. ) ranks, classes, an.d denominations. Beyond everything such a sympathy is capable of demonstrating that the highest considerations of humanity and mutual goodwill are joining together those distinguished and influential men who are ready to improve the lot of their suffering fellow-creatures. In view of this triumph of the spirit of enlightened philanthropy, the council of the Anglo-Jewish Association feel bound to request you to be instrumental in conveying their expression of unqualified thanks to those benefactors who, irrespective of creed, have made successful efforts to bring relief to the thousands of Russian Jews, now the homeless victims of popular outrages. The noble part you have taken in providing help to be given to these unoffending objects of persecution has not only had the direct effect of bringing bountiful relief into the dismal quarters of the destitute, but it ha > induced many benevolent persons in other countries to emulate the example brilliantly held out by yourselves and by your worthy citizens.- I have, etc., A. Lowi, Secretary.”—AVairarapa Star.
