THE NIHILISTS.

The following is an appeal which the Nihilist Executive Committee have issued to the Buthenians of the Ukraine ;- Dear brothers of the Ukraine your life is hard, and grows harder every day. You cannot get justice, and you are plundered by the Government and the Jjws. ,

In the days of your ancestors it was different; the whole country then belonged to the peasants ; there were neither landlords nor Jews. The people consisted of free Cossacks, who owed obedience only to fche attamans, or elders elected by themselves. But when the Russian Czar came to the Ukraine he took the whole of the land from the people, and either gave it to his nobles or sold it to Jews. Nor was this all. Xu order to obtain more money for extravagent banquets, for new palaces and orgies of all kinds, the Czar laid special tuxes on the peasants. Whether rich or poor, all bad to pay ; and those who had not the money weru obliged to go to the Jews, who for every kopeck they lent claimed a rouble, which they always got on appealing to the judges and police. The Czar has only made laws in order to enrich himself and help the landlords and the Jews. But if the peasants would rise they would at once throw off these enemies, who suck their blood. They did so in Elisabetgrad, and Kief, ; but the Emperor took the Jews' part. He sent troops, and the rising was put down with Christian blood You

now see who is the greatest enemj of the peasants. This should have been put an end to long ago, and we have assembled for that purpose from all parts of Russia. We hare formed an Executive C omraittee, and have resolved—l, That all the land shall be taken from the landlords and Jews ani given back to the peasants. 2. That all the factories shall be taken from their owners and given to the workmen. 8. That the Government which oppresses the pheasants shall be driven from the country. The people will then assemble and elect their members, which will form a Parliament ruling the people according to their will. Directly the Czar found out what we wanted, he seized and hanged as many of us as he could catch. All our comrades who died on the Imperial gallows died for the peasants and the workmen. The Czar hunted us like wild beasts ; we therefore sentenced him to death as the enemy of the people. Those who will not hear the truth must feel it. Nothing but blood can end your misery. A rising will soon take place in the whole of Russia against the Czar, the landlords, and the Jews. Let everyone help us who can. It is better to die for justice and freedom than to perish under the oppression of the landlords and the Jews.
