It is desired to set set forth in a concise form information respecting tiie business which this Office undertakes : 1. The charge of nil kinds of monsy trusts, such as Marriage Settlement, money to be invested for the benefit of Mino'S, moneys bequeathed for charitable o- j-c s, moneys the tit‘e to which is in dispute, or whose legal owner is unknown or cannot be found, et -., etc. 2. The administration of the wills of persons who by appointing the Public Trustee us their executor secure the guarantee of ‘he State for the due fulfilment of their wishes, and avoid the risk consequent on the appointment of private persons as execut, or who not unfrequently, though earnestly de-irons of acting for the benefit of parties interested, fail to carry out legacy the objects for which they were appointed, a; d consequently involve; themselves -rid those who-e interests they’ are st living to protect in costly and harassing litigation. 3. The administration of all estates of which no disposition has been made by wi'l, whenever relatives do nut wish m incur the responaibihty of administration, or cannot from any cause obta'u the necessary powers to act. In such cases it is the duly of the Public Trustee to discharge all legal debts so far as fhe assets extend, and divide the residue amongst the next of kin. 4. The administration of the estates of lunatb s, lunatic p it'ents, and convicts 5 Tl'.e charge of a I lauds lying waste and unoccupied of which the owner is unknown, or who Las been absent from the colony for ten years, raving left no known agent.
