The cricket match Victoria v. New •South Wales was continued yesterday. The latter resumed their first innings .and again remained at wickets until ■the stumps were drawn, when they had put together 640 runs lor the loss of 'r .only six wickets. Murdoch scored 321, and Jones is not out for 109 ; Garrett V not out for 75. At the .close of the .day’s play Murdoch was presented with 100 guineas, which had been subscribed ,upon the ground. NEW ZEALAND, (Per Press Association.) Auckland, Feb, 11. A Company with a capital of £IOO,OOO, has been floated here for the purpose oi establishing a large flour mill and granary . There are one hundred cases of scarlet fever at Onehunga. Twelve deaths have occurred and fresh cases are daily reported. Wellington, Feb. 11. Mr W. H. Levin, M.H.R., has been .appointed American Consular Agent in Wellington, vice Captain Mclntyre, who jhas removed to Christchurch. Christchurch, Feb- 12. A bad accident occurred on Friday afternoon near Sonthbridge. The wife of a farmer named Abbott was sitting in front of the house with her children watching the men at work, when a horse bolted with a dray whjch it capsized right on to the unfortunate womon. It .was speedily removed, but not before terrible injuries had been inflicted on those underneath. Mrs Abbott received ,a compound fracture of the right arm, '-.and a wound across the temple. The baby which she held ad thetime, had its leg- broken. Gne girl was much bruised .about the body, and t\ie little boy had bis skull laid open, and the left side of the body apparently paralysed. Another gifl, who was thrown under the horse, .squared'in danger of instant death, but strangely enough she was rescued with .scarcely any injury. Dunedin, Feb. 11. It was reported a short time ago that an amalgamation was to be effected between the National apd Standard Insurance Companies. The Star has authority for saying that such an amalgamation has never been contemplated. John Allan, aged about seventeen, in the employ of Saunders, Mcßeatli and 80., while shaking out a duster from a .window on the second floor of the building, over-balanced hitps n lf and fell .through the skylight, sustaining injuries to his abdomen, resulting in death .shortly after his admission to the Hospital. Deceased was a son of John Allan, of East Taieri.
