TEMUKA ROAD BOARD ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR. X was surprised to hear on my arrival at Temuka on Wednesday last that a leport had been spread through the district-that^Lhad sent in my resignation as a candidate for the Temuka Road Board election in favor of Mr Austin. This report being false, I am anxious to find out its origin. I went to Messrs Henry | and Finlay’s, saw Mr Henry who told me that he understood Mr Austin to say that fie had a letter from me stating that L
would resign in his favor. We then went to Mr Blyth, anc&r Henry'asked him did you understand Mr Austin to say that be had a Mr Buxton, stating that Mr Buxton would resign in his favor. Mr Blyth rephed “Wes, Mr Austin did say so.” I then asked have you spread the report,” and they said “ yes, we did, on the authority of Mr Austin’s word. I have’ written to Mr Austin asking him to publish in your paper the letter he received, in full, with the authors name. I think we are getting too famous in Temuka for this kind rf thing. Please insert this and oblige. —I am etc. Searby Buxton.
