The particulars of the properly are as follows : It is freehold, of 20 acres in extent, the property of Mr George Meredith. In t:e land two shafts have been sunk. The main, or working shaft is 9ft by sft wide, and is 32ft deep, from which coal has been raised from a seam 2ft thick. The shaft is timbered from the Surface. The other shaft referred to (half a chain from the main shaft) is 7ft by 4ft wide a;:d 45ft de p, and is well timbered, and has been sunk through two seams of coat pf- sft and 4ft respectively op to a 2ft 6iu seam. Eire, c-! ay is found in large quantities, and is pronounced by competent authority to be eminently adapled for pottery and sanitary t i | es, gas retorts, fire-bricks, Ac. The coal is easily obtained, and is of the. finest quality for household and manufacturing purposes, and its superiority for the pror. motion of gas and for steam purposes, hag, even proved by reliable tests.
