RELIGIOUS.

Mrs Hampson, who some time since visited Wellington, and who, by her earnest and elegant exhortations, affected a large amount of good, not only in religious circles, but likewise amongst those who, it is apprended, never or seldom attend places of public whrship, commenced a second series of religious services in connection with her evangelistic mission on Sunday night last, at the Arcade, which, long before the hour announced-for the commencement of the service, was crowded with persons who, evidently, were connected with every religious denominations. The, building is capable of seating at least 1600 people, and besides those who occupied seats, each aisle and awenue leading thereto was completely blocked by an attentive auditory, Mrs Hampson differs materially from the majority of rivivalists, and, indeed, it is questionable whether the term would at all apply to the ministration of the lady. Her delivery, though earnest, is by no means demonstrative. Her voice is pleasing, and it is evident from her style that she believes more in winning by her convincing arguments than by making loud denunciations, The second service of the seireswas held on Monday evening, at the same place. In connection with the mission, a noonday prayer meeting is to be held every day, lasting from 12 to 1 o’clock.—-New Zealand Mail.
