COMMERCIAL.
WINCHESTER FAIR. The usuul monthly fair 'was held at i Winchester last Thursday. A large number of sheep were yarded, but the at- J tendance of buyers -was small, and bidding slow, owing no doubt to the dry weather, and the want of feed. Besides thoae, disposed of ty the auctioneers, a few lots changed hands privately. | Mr K. F. Gray reports disposing of 12 head young cattle at £2 12s 6d each ; also, a number of mixed store cattle at £4. A quantity of sundries, furniture, etc., submitted to the hammer were sold at remunerative prices. Messrs MurideH and Co. sold a few springing cows at prices varying from £.5 to £6 16s. 226 sheep were passed at 7s sd. 6 Fat steers were sold at £6 each. Messrs Wildie, Allan and Stumbles sold 93 sheep at 7,s Id each. Messrs Maclean and Stewart disposed of 400. merino wethers at 45 *<* ea °h 530 fat crossbred? a,t 8s °4 each, - x and 5. fat ateers at from £4 15s to £-6,155, Mr Moss Jonas sold 8, yearlings at £2; 8s 6d each, and a few *»heep,. which, were purchased privately.
