I consider it quite right, and that when the proprietors of stores sign, a requisition it is very unfair for any of them to depart from what they agree to do, I only draw your attention to the above and hope that when holidays are given all of them will , close and not break their promises. Of course, if it were urgent it would be a different matter. Accident. — We regret to learn that an accident happened to Mr John Mee, of Tim»ru, Whilst bathing last Monday in the Paroora river, he fell and split his knee-cap.

Mr r> arrishas received a letter from King TawKiao, requesting him not to listen to any of the proposals to have a Land Court established at Mokau, on the ground that he is opposed to it. The Okato station has been broken up, all the men being transferred to Pungarehu. About 500 acres of native crops have been destroyed. The crops destroyed at Parihaka are only those belonging to strangers, who had no right there, and assembled there in defiance of Government,planted on land outside the native reserves, and not belonging to the Parihaka Maoris at all.
