It is announced that Sir George Bramwell. who resigned the positi ui of Lord Chief Justice of Appeal iu September last, has been raised to the Peerage. Toe Marquis of Hartington made a speech to-day at Birnley, Lancashire. He stated that although the Leaguers were continuing guerilla warfare in Ireland, there were hopeful signs that agitation in the country was gradually diminishing. Dec. 19.
