Nov. 28. Lcfrov, alias Mapleton, who was recently found guilty of the murder of Mr Gold on the Brighton Railway, has admitted that he committed the crime, and also confesses to the murder of Lieut. Roper, at Chatham, whose death occurred so mysteriously some time back. He was hanged to-day at Newgate Gaol. Telegrams that have been received from Hong Kong report the wreck of the iron ship Bolton Abbey, 1150 tons, of Liverpool, while on her voyage from Newcastle to Manilla. The captain and all the crew, except three, were saved and have reached Hong Kong. Berlin, Nov 28. The Emperor William, who has for some time past been severely indisposed, has so far recovered that he is now able to take carriage exercise. St. Petersburg, Nov. 26. Vienna, Nov. 26. fhe decision of the Government to place Bosnia under the Austrian svstein of military service has caused ; r -at discontent among the Bosnians, i sjiccialiy those resident in the district of Cattaro, on the Montenegrin frontier- The inhabitants of that district have risen in arms against th? Austrian authorities, and severe fighting has already tak ,j n place between the insurgents and the Austrian troops despatched to Cattaro. AUSTRALIAN. Sydney, Nov. 29. Bandman Yates, of H.M S. Bacchante, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment and dismissal from the service for desertion. Hobart, Nov. 28. Hundreds of people yester.lay visited the scene of the fire which has been raging in the vicinity of Shag River since the extraordinary disturbance which occurred on Thursday last. The accounts which come to hand are most contradictory. The Meicury to-day expresses the belief that the fire is caused by burning peat moss.
