MR LEACH AND THE ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Mr Leach appear? to be Mill unconscious as to the ridiculous position he at present stands in with the electors of the Gladstone district. He puts one in mind of a conceited coxcomb, open to the most insidious flattery, believing that what lie is told in regard to his superior qualifications for the Geraldine seat, to be actual gospel truth. He hasbeen made the butt of an opposing party to suit their own ends—that of splitting up the voles—and despite rotten eggs and flour thrown at him ad libitum. I hear that he intends being nominated to-morrow. Whoever are thinking of proposing and seconding him as a candidate for Parliamentar3" honors should well consider what they are going to do, for they will be the means of holding this electorate up to the derision of the colony at large I hope, Sir, Mr Leach will not allow himself to be nominated, but retire from the contest, as otherwise he will only prove himself a stumbling block in the paths of far superior men to himself.—l am, etc.. Another Elector.
