Large Lime Kilns are now in course of erection close to the property. The particulars of the property are as follows : It is freehold, of 20 acres in extent, the property of Mr George Meredith. In the land two shafts have been sunk. The main, or working shaft is 9ft by sft wide, and is 32ft deep, front, which coal has been raised from a seam, 2ft thick. The shaft is timbered from the surface. The other shaft referred to (half a chain from the main shaft) is 7ft by 4ft wide and 45ft deep, and is well timbered, and has been sunk through two seams of coal of sft and 4ft respectively on to a 2ft Gin seam. Eire clay is found in large quantities, and is pronounced by competent authority to be eminently adapl ed for pottery and sanitary pipes, gas retorts, fire-bricks, &c.

The coal is easily obtained, and is of the finest quality for household and manufacturing purposes, and its superiority for the production of gas and for, s team purposes has been proved by reliable tests. As this coal is admitted to be areally good coal for steaming purposes, it is proposed to have constant supplies in depots, so that the üblic can always get what thev may raquire.
