NATIVE AFFAIRS.

Captain Davidson, with the Taranaki Mounted Kifl.es, arrived in New Plymouth at 9 a.in. on Saturday’ last with To Whiti, Tolm. and Hiroki. The latter were delivered over to New Plymouth gaoler’s custody, and were conlinet in the ordinary c lls. The murderer Hiroki was placed in a separate cell from Te \1 hiti and Tolm.

The three prisoners were brought up at the Court on Saturday afternoon. Messrs Stand ish and Samuel appeared for the Crown, with Mr Siockman as interpreter. Hiroki was first charged with murder, and the warrant read and translated to him. Mr Stamlidi asked for a remand, which was g-anted. Te Whiti and Tohu were then charged with using language likely to disturb the peace of the district. After the evidence of Mr W. C. Hursthouse. Te Whiti was asked if he had any questions to put to the witness, to which he replied that he had not. but would make a statement. The Court then adjourned till Monday (yesterday )
