Australian tallow, best beef, 35s 6d ; best mutton, 375. In the House of Commons to-day the consideration of the Irish Land Bill in Committee was proceeded with, and further progress was made, with the measure. Clause 12 was, after discussion, postponed, but clauses 13 to 24 were finally passed without amendment.

This morning's bulletin reports that the President continues to make satis-
faotory progress, and is hourly gaining strength. His medical attendants are sanguine of his complete recovery. Capetown, July 7.
Intelligence is to hand from Pretoria that the Royal Commission, who were empowered to settle the frontier and other questions in connection with the Transvaal, is making good progress and every hope entertained that a successful issue will result from its labors.

The vessels comprising the detached squadron, except the Bacchante, sailed yesterday lor Sydney. After a short stay there they will proceed to Auckland. The Royal princes are now sailing in the Inconstant.

Sir Bryan OLoghlen to-day submitted to the following list of the new Ministry to His Excellency the Governor : Sir Bryan O'Loghlen, Premier, Colonial Treasurer, and At-torney-General ; Mr J. M. Grant, Chief Secretary, and Minister of Education ; Mr D, Gaunson, Minister of Lands ; Mr H. Bolton, PostmasterGeneral ; Mr T. Bent, Commissioner of Railways ; Mr Young, Minister of Mines ; Mr J, H. Greaves, Commissioner of Trade and Customs ; the Hon. J. S. Dobson, Minister of Justice. The portfolio of Works is still unfilled. The new Ministers were duly sworn in to-day Sydney, July 9.
A fresh case of smallpox was reported this morning, making the third within tht> past twenty-four hours. The disease has again appeared in the heart of the city, in Sussex street, the sufferer being a girl eleven years of age.
July 10,
Another case of smallpox in the city has been reported to the authorities to-day. The schooner Sophia, from the South Sea Islands, went ashore at the Heads thi? morning, all hands were savod.
