TO THE EDITOR. Sin, —As it is currently reported in the town that I am acting as correspondent for the Liberty, a ‘‘society’’ journal pub? lished in Christchurch, will you be good enough to allow me, through the medium of the Leader, to give this a most emphatic denial, and to assure those gossips who have been mainly instrumental in giving circulation to the report that neither by act, word, or deed am I connected with the miserable “rag” that causes more unpleasantness amongst small or large communities than the majority of people are aware of. J would not have troubled you, Sir, to correct this report, but for the fact that the “ small fry" of Temuka, who are ever on the alert to calumniate the most innocent resident, have gone out of their way to injure me iu my business, and I take this opportunity of adding for their especial benefit that, like the editor and publisher of the Liberty, they deserve what they probably will receive, viz., summary punishment.
