COLONIAL LOANS.
The Colonial Treasurer. Sydney, has announced the probable intentions o< the Government to issue a portion of their authorised loan in this colony. There can be no doubt that this will prove a great boon to those desirous of obtaining undoubted investments who have trust moneys at their disposal. It may be questionable, howevei’, whether it is desirable to interfere to any great extent with the importation of foreign capital, or to hold out inducements to \ our local capitalists to lock up funds **which might otherwise be devotee 1 to the development of interests advantageous to the colony. It may, however, be carefully assumed that Mr Watson is too astute a financier to overlook these considerations, and that knowing by his experience the incalculable benefit which the mercantile community can derive from the influx of capital, the amount placed on this market will only be of limited extent.—Australian Insurance «nd Banking Record.
