TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting of the Committee was hold on Tuesday evening last. MEMBERS PRESENT. Present—Messrs McKay (Chairman), Mendelson, Brown, Hayhurst, Watt, and Gray.. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous ordinary and special meetings were read and con firmed. CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED. The following correspondence received was read :- . Acknowledging receipt of letter from Committee, intimating that it had noniL nated Messrs W. J. Steward and W. U. Slack as members of the Board of Education in th& stead of Messrs Lovegrove and Postlethwaita resigned..
From Mr. W. J. Steward, consenting to be nominated as a candidate for membership of the Board. From Mr 11. B. *J#I C ot, stating that lie' had withdrawn /rom nomination as candidate for svjhibcrship of the Board. Frgir the Board of Eduejiiieft ie Stt'aries to pupil teachers. From the same, enclosing statement -re teachers' salaries for the month. From the same, stating that the sum of £54 3s 4d had been paid to the Committee in the Bank of New Zealand, for teachers' salaries to end of June. From the same, re Bill enabling the Board to sell school buildings and land, and that Mi Wakefield had been requested to include Temuka therein. From the same, forwarding plang for a school at Temuka, From the same, noting 13th and 22 uu Clauses of the Education Act, re nomination of members for the Board of Edueation. CORRESPONDENCE FORWARDED. Letters from the Committee sent, from 23rd May last, were read. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS. Mr Diddams, on behalf of the St. Saviour's Sunday School, thanked the Committee for the use of the schoolroom, for an entertainment. A cheque for £3 17 7d was received from Mr Macintosh, head master to the Temuka School, as penny per week contributions from the school children for ink etc. i ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £lO 3s lOd were passed for payment. Re olved—" That Mr Frew's account be forwarded to the Board of Education for payment, subject to the same being apapproved ot by Mr Gray as correct." IENDERS. Tenders were opened for supplying fuel for the use of the school as follows: E. Brown, 43a per ton best screened Newcastle coal ; W. McCann, 44s ditto. Resolved—" That the tender of E. Brown be accepted." NEW MEMBERS FOR THE BOARD. Resolved —"That this Committee reCord their vote for Messrs W. J. Steward and W. U. Slack as Imembera of the Education Board in the stead of Messrs Postlethwaite and resigned." THE MASTER'S HOUSE. Resolved—''That Mr Macintosh be written to, asking if he intends occupying the master's house, and, if so, when I" SCHOOL REQUISITES. £. e Solved—"That a supply of ink be procured from Mr Hutiibn for the>se of the school." Resolved—" That nothing be procured for the use of th<* school unless by order of the Chairman of the Committee, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the head master." NEW SCHOOL BUILDINGS. Plans of the proposed new schoolbuikiings received from the Board of Education were laid on the table for the inspection of the Committee. Mr Hayhurst's name was added to the Committee to interview the Board oa Wednesday next in reference to school requirements. Resolve©—" That the action of the Board re proposed Act authorising sale of school buildings be approved of." VISITING COMMITTEE. Messrs Hayhurst and Brown were appointed a Visiting Committee for the ensuing month. ADJOURNMENT. The meeting then adjourned.
