News has been received that twelve Italian explorers have been massacred by natives in the interior of Egypt. The following diplomatic appointments are officially announced \ —Ho.nL. S. Sackville Wes.t, British Minister at MadridjWill succeed the Bight Hon. Sir E. Thornton at Washington ;; Mr R. B. D. M.rrior, C,B. Minister at Lisbon, will replace the Hon, Sackville West at Madrid ; and Sir C. L. Wyke G.C.M.G., K.C.D., now Minister at Copenhagen, will succsed Mr Morrier as Minister at Portugal. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, is quoted at 48s 6d ; New Zealand wheat at 45s Gd ; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse at 36s ; Australian tallow, best beef per cwt., 34s Gd ; best mutton, 36s 6d. At the wool sales to-day 9900 bales wre offered. The market was firm. In the House of Commons consideration of the Iri-di Land Bill in Committee was resumed on the 9th inst., after tlie Whitsuntide recess, and has continued at ea-;h day's bitting since that date. Paris. June 12. The race for the Grand Prix was run this, after noon j, and resulted in a vjctory for FoxliiU x Tristan second, Albion third. June 13. It is announced that Mj. R,on,stan, at present Consul-General for- France in Tunis, will bo. invested with supreme control of the Tunisian foreign relations in terms of the treaty made by the B.ey. Intelligence has been received from Algiers that an engagement has taken place between the French troops and a body of Algerian insurgents, The latter were totally defeased;, with tho loss of fifty killed, Foft Chow, June 13. The steamship Bowen, with a cargo of new season's teas will sail for New Zealand direct from this port.

Melbourne, June 13, Di ctor and Misses Muuro and child were drowned near Wangaratta to-day through the upsetting of a buggy. Adelaide, June 13. The Princes visited the General Post and Telegraph offices and the Observatory to-day. To-morrow they will visit the Wallaroo copper mines, and on Thursday a grand bill will bo given in their honor in the town hall. The P. and O. Company’s steamship Cathay arrived here yesterday irom King George’s Sound. The Princes Albert Victor; and George of Wales, who were passengers, were most enthusiastically received on their arrival in town. They are guests ■ot His h'x collency Sir William Jervois, at Government House, and will probably remain lie a. week, a.iid then proceed to Melbourne, June 14. It has been arranged that the Royal Princes will remain here until Monday next, the. 20th, and on that day will proceed to Melbourne overland.
