Telegrams have been received from Quebec, Canada, announcing that a most destructive fire has occurred in that city, It broke out in a thickly populated part, and spread with great rapidity to several houses with groat severity, but waa finally extinguished. It is stated that fully ono thousand houses have been completely destroyed, ilt is not yet known whether any loss of life has occurred, June 7. News has been received from Liverpool of a dastardly attempt to deatray the Town Hall in that city. An explosion occurred last night in the building, and caused some destruction in its neighborhood, but it was evident the at-. tempt to blow up the Hall was unsuccessful. It is supposed the dynamite was the explosive material used, and it is believed that it \y-as. laid by Fenians. The police have already arrested two armed American Irishmen on suspicion of being concerned in the outrage. June 11. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 48s ; New Zealand wheat, 455; ; Adelaide fiour ex warehouse, 33s 6d. Australian tallow has declined 6d per cwt, and is quoted to-day at 34s 6d for best beef' and 37s for best mutton. i At the wool sale to-day 8900 bales were offered. A firm demand was again experienced. Fifty rioters arrested during the j iccent disturbances at Cork have been sentenced to various terras or imprisonment. The police and military in Ireland are actively engaged in suppress, i ing all meetings of the Land League, , At five different places to-day meetings were prohibited and the people dispensed. Telegrams are to hand from New York reporting that at aft interview with' O'Donovan Rossa he denied that Fenians were guilty of complicity in, the recent attempt to blow up the Liverpool Town Hall, but stated that he was awa>e that in December last explosiTesjwereplacecUnthe hold of H.M.S. Doterill, which was destroyed by an plosion in the Straits of Magellan on April 26th.

Melbourne, June 11. James Henderson, thp reported owner of the steamer Ferret, alias India, made an, attempVlast evening to, escape from Pen-tridge gaol. He had filed away the bars ot, his cell window, and had succeeded in m»kmg his exit from the cell when ho was discovered by the warders ™d again, placed in custody. He now stands coram ited for trial on charges of conspiracy in connection with the Ferret.
